Don’t take on the audit alone!

We represent taxpayers throughout the U.S. and abroad before the taxing authorities.  Our representation includes civil and criminal examinations, collection issues, tax settlements, tax liens, tax abatements, and similar matters involving representation and interaction with taxing authorities.

Whether it is an audit for income tax, sales tax, payroll tax, or hour & wage, any kind of audit can be a very frightening and stressful situation to a taxpayer. But just remember that we are here by your side to share your fear and guide you through to the other side of this thorny and unpleasant path.

During our years of experience dealing with all kind of audits, we have achieved a level of competence that can ensure our clients are being properly represented before the various taxing authorities and tax agencies. Our success rate in handling audit has been remarkable. To illustrate one example, we represented one IRS personal income tax audit case disallowing net operating loss from partnership. It took two years and we got our client a refund of $170,000, without having to pay a single penny. We really impressed the IRS agent, not to mention my client. In another business audit case, we ended the audit by giving the IRS auditor what he wanted, which had no meaningful impact on my client. We obtained an additional assessment based on an increase in accounts receivable, which lead to less tax in the future years. The result was equivalent to no change in the audit. We usually figure out how to make the auditors happy without doing any harm to the taxpayer. We know how we can find the happy medium to please both parties.

We never advise taxpayers to represent themselves in any audit, no matter how simple it may seem, nor how honest you believe you are. We have seen many taxpayers decide to handle a tax audit themselves, and discover they may have been “penny wise,” avoiding a representative’s fee, but “pound foolish,” because they received a substantial bill for a significant tax deficiency.

Auditors are trained to extract more information from you than you have a legal obligation to provide. Auditors know that most people fear them and are ignorant of their rights. As a result, they know they can use that fear and ignorance to their advantage. Taxpayers need to be protected from auditor’s abuse and intimidation, Taxpayers frequently overpay their tax liability either as a consequence of inappropriate taxing authorities’ actions, or because they do not have the counsel of a skilled and experienced representatives.

Rarely do our clients even have to talk with the taxing authorities. We handle it all for you so that you need not take time off of your business or job to handle the bureaucracy and paperwork of the taxing authorities. There are no lost wages or business. You simply forward the notification of an audit to us and we handle it from A to Z.
